GameStop is entering into a partnership with AT&T-owned mobile phone chain Cricket to bring its smartphones and accessories to the company’s chain of game stores across the U.S. — more than 2,800 locations. The two companies had already conducted a test market together. “By offering Cricket Wireless service in our stores, we provide yet another great offering for our customers to get their favorite technology simply and affordably,” said GameStop president Tony Bartel in a statement. In the future, the two companies may also partner their rewards programs for some special offers, the release suggests. “Our mission here is all about growth,” Cricket president Jennifer Van Buskirk told Re/code. GameStop has increasingly been looking to mobile for profits as sales of new game software fall; it acquired retail chain Spring Mobile last year.
